The Tobacco, Alcohol, Prescription medication, and other Substance use (TAPS) Tool combines screening and brief assessment for commonly used substances, that may be either self-administered by the patient or as an interview by a health professional.
The Tobacco, Alcohol, Prescription medication, and other Substance use (TAPS) Tool consists of a combined screening component (TAPS-1) followed by a brief assessment (TAPS-2) for those who screen positive to arrive at a risk level for substance use. This tool is meant to be used under supervision of a medical provider and is not designed to replace a health professional’s judgement.
