Are you currently homeless or facing homelessness in the next 14 days? Your first step should always be to contact the Coordinated Entry System. Coordinated entry is a nationally recognized process developed to ensure that all people experiencing a housing crisis have fair and equal access and are quickly identified, assessed for, referred, and connected to housing and assistance based on their strengths and needs.
Coordinated Entry is a data-driven system that is widely accepted as a best practice in homeless assistance services to achieve three goals:
1. Helping households move through the homeless system faster.
2. Reducing new entries into homelessness.
3. Improving data collection and quality.
The Coordinated Entry System is run through the Rhode Island Coalition to End Homelessness—learn more about our work by visiting our website rihomeless.org. Website is in only, but phone services are available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Haitian Creole, M – F: 9AM – 7PM, and holidays & weekends: 2PM – 7PM.
The Rhode Island Public Health Institute’s mission is to promote community health and eliminate health disparities in Rhode Island and beyond.
